Q&A
In order to help make your search process a little easier here are our answers to some of the questions we’ve received so far.
Where’s that accent from?
I was born and raised in England…but I moved to the US in my early 20s and have been here for most of my adult life. We were granted permanent residence back in 2012 and we are delighted that the US is our forever home!
Have you been involved with a church since you took a break from ministry?
Of course! The local church is God’s plan for the world. We have been involved in a church plant (in a non-leadership capacity) right here in Hunt County, Texas called Grace Life, and we were involved with the “sending” church before that.
What made you choose ORU as a seminary?
I was looking for a place that had a high quality MDiv program for those already in full-time ministry. ORU was by far the best option as it offered short on-campus intensives followed by online coursework throughout the semester and was a relatively short drive. I have no affiliation with the word-faith movement and quite frankly neither does ORU these days.
Will transitioning from your business back into ministry be complicated?
Not at all. The value of our business is entirely in our equipment which typically sells in a matter of days. We have no residual business debt and anticipate being able to make the transition as expeditiously as needed.
Why did you take such a long break from full-time ministry?
We initially started to search for our next position right after we stepped down at GCC, in fact we started our search the first week of the Covid lockdown back in March 2020. However, it soon became apparent to us that a sabbatical would be very helpful. We didn’t originally plan for it to be as long as five years, but we also didn’t feel it was time to move into our next season until now.
When are you looking to take on a new position?
We are ready! Like anyone making a move we’ll have a few loose ends to tie up but we have already begun to prepare for moving into this next season.
